  • You'll first book at chat with Leslie to make sure 1-1 mental wellness coaching is right for you. This is different from therapy in that we will not work with treating mental illness. Mental wellness coaching gives you the tools you need to work toward emotional well-being and having better mental health.

 

  • Once you take the next step and commit to yourself and wellness coaching, we'll create a roadmap focused on setting clear goals and talking through what goals you'd like to reach and how mindset work, yoga, meditation and movement can support your individual lifestyle and lay the foundation for your success journey.

 

  • 1-1 Coaching requires at least a 6 month commitment to see your best results. Leslie offers single sessions on a case-by-case basis depending on the level of work needed. Book a call with Leslie to chat more!

Who is Leslie and why Coaching?

Hey Newsie! My name is Leslie, The News Yogi. I've been working in newsrooms for more than a decade. In 2016, after years of ignoring my mental wellness and coping with alcohol and avoidance, I had a breakdown. Emotionally, I could not keep going, then I took a deep dive into yoga, therapy and life coaching. It saved my life. 

 

I learned healing was so much more than doing yoga or meditation. Healing was a lifestyle change. Change for me started by learning how to put myself first in life and my news career. My work continues as a yoga and mental wellness coach, now helping other journalists understand the nervous system, the power of mindset work and learning better coping and resourcing tools I missed along the way. 

 

I created this space for all journalists, no matter what phase of your career you're in or if you've left news altogether! Today I'm so grateful and honored to share the practices that saved my life. It started with a gut feeling to follow this purpose and I'm so thankful I did!

FAQ's

How much time is this going to take? 

In order to be a different person and see different outcomes, you have to do things DIFFERENTLY. With that being said, our 1-1 calls are either monthly or every other week depending on what's best for you. In between that, your homework is tailored and customized based off of what you need individually. This work is all about what you put into it. You are responsible for your own results.

Is this right for me? I just left news or am planning on it. 

YES!!! I've coached journalists who quit their jobs and were lost in finding what the next thing was in their career journey. You may have left the newsroom, but our bodies and brains can still operate as if they're living in the dysregulated news environment. So, while you're no longer in a newsroom, you may still notice at times it feels like you still have the pressures of a newsroom. Coaching will teach you the tools you need to regulate, put yourself first and step into the life you TRULY want to live. 

What is Mental Wellness Coaching?

I'm a mental wellness coach, not a licensed therapist. I focus on teaching you emotional wellness management and coaching you on better mental health. My approach is mind-body-nervous system regulation. I help you with subconscious mindset techniques such as Neural Energetic Wiring, Mindset and Manifestation Coaching techniques, Hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Techniques and Somatic techniques like Yoga and Breath Work to help you wire in the changes in your thoughts and physiology. Coaching will focus on addressing limiting beliefs and letting go of negative emotions while giving you the coping tools to use in stressful situations.

Is this therapy? How is this different? 

Coaching is not therapy. Therapists focus on your past to deal with your current issues and focus on treating mental illness and other complex issues. I'm not a licensed therapist.

 

A mental wellness coach focuses on your emotional well-being and teaching you how to better your mental health. As a coach, I focus on your current reality to help you get to your future goals and the life of your dreams. My coaching certification is through YES SUPPLY in Toronto, Canada. I'm also a 500-hour yoga educator with an emphasis on yoga psychology. 

 

Think of your therapist as the person who gives you the diagnosis in the way a doctor would and Leslie as your personal mental wellness trainer that will give you the exercises and action plan to achieve your goals and prioritize your mental wellness.

What is Leslie trained in? 

I'm a mental wellness coach, yoga, meditation and breath work educator. I have more than 800 hours of yoga training and am certified to work with techniques like EFT, Neurolinguistic Programming and Subconscious mind work. I also have more than a decade experience in newsrooms. As I said before,  think of me as your personal mental wellness trainer that will give you the action plan to reach your goals and prioritize your mental wellness. I can't do the work for you, you have to want it for yourself!
