It's no secret most journalists are burnt out. They're leaving the industry in numbers. Journalists of color are few and far between in newsrooms as they struggle to feel supported and lack mental wellness resources to help cope with the high-stress journalism career.
The News Yogi is a movement pioneered by journalist, thought leader, yoga educator and mental wellness coach Leslie Rangel. It's a way for all journalists of color and journalists of conscience to learn mindset, yoga, meditation and self-regulation tools to help in their healing journey from news stress and trauma.
When we can understand our own stories and remind ourselves we're humans first, journalists second, and normalize mental wellness in news. With mentally fit journalists, we can make a change across all newsrooms to foster an industry that represents the world we live in.
