Leslie Features & Collabs:
Hey Newsie! I'm Leslie, the founder and CEO of The News Yogi Coaching, providing emotional health, movement and leadership coaching to public-facing visionaries, particularly those who are often the firsts in their family from a non-dominant culture.
I began my coaching work after spending years as a TV reporter and news anchor. In such a high-stress and public career, I found myself burned out and looking for purpose. In 2016, I began my own healing journey.
Today, I'm certified in yoga psychology and an emotional health, mindset, breath work, meditation and movement coach. I'm on a mission to help high-achieving marginalized folks, do their jobs in a holistic, soul-centered way.
My work drives mental wellness conversations in the workplace to help leaders step into their purpose and big life goals.
I'm the co-author of “Journalists Break News, Don’t Let it Break You: Normalizing Mental Wellness in News,” the first book of its kind to give step-by-step wellness tools for managing stress, trauma and burnout in the news and media industry.
I'm an Emmy-nominated journalist recognized by the United Nations for my storytelling skills. I'm a first generation daughter of Mexican and Guatemalan immigrants and live in Austin, TX with my husband, a fellow journalist, and our two rescue pugs.

You're a journalist, you probably have questions!!
FAQ's
In order to be a different person and see different outcomes, you have to do things DIFFERENTLY. This work is all about what you put into it. You are responsible for your own results, but we're here to support you! All calls are 75 minutes and recorded for you to review if you can't make the calls.
I'm limiting this to 15 journalists to ensure I can give each one of you attention and create a safe and welcoming space. Spots are filling quickly!!
YES!!! I've coached journalists who quit their jobs and were lost in finding what the next thing was in their career journey. You may have left the newsroom, but our bodies and brains likely still operate as if they're living in the dysregulated news environment. So, while you're no longer in a newsroom, you may still notice at times it feels like you still have the pressures of a newsroom. Coaching will give you clarity and teach you the tools you need to regulate, put yourself first and step into the life you TRULY want to live.
As a coach, I focus on teaching you emotional health management. My approach is mind-body-nervous system regulation. I help you with subconscious mindset techniques such as Neural Energetic Wiring, mindset techniques, somatic techniques, breath work, meditation and other tools to help you wire in the changes. Coaching will focus on addressing limiting beliefs and letting go of negative emotions while giving you the coping tools to use in stressful situations.
Coaching is not therapy. Therapists focus on your past to deal with your current issues and focus on treating mental illness and other complex issues. I'm not a licensed therapist.
A mental wellness coach focuses on your emotional well-being and teaching you how to better your mental health. As a coach, I focus on your current reality to help you get to your future goals and the life of your dreams. My coaching certification is through YES SUPPLY in Toronto, Canada and is accredited with the International Coaching Federation. I'm also a 500-hour yoga educator with an emphasis on yoga psychology.
Think of your therapist as the person who gives you the diagnosis in the way a doctor would and Leslie as your personal emotional health trainer that will give you the exercises and action plan to achieve your goals and prioritize your mental wellness.
I believe in wellness equity for all. Send me and email Leslie@TheNewsYogi.com and we'll chat about your unique situation!
We start on June 12th and meet every Wednesday at 6:30pm CT for a 5 week intensive. We will have a welcome call that will be sent and determined via survey by the first week of June.
I'm a mental wellness coach, yoga, meditation and breath work educator. I have more than 800 hours of yoga training and am certified to work with techniques like EFT, Neurolinguistic Programming and Subconscious mindwork. I also have more than a decade's experience in newsrooms. As I said before, think of me as your personal emotional health trainer that will give you the action plan to reach your goals and prioritize your mental wellness. I can't do the work for you, you have to want it for yourself!
